About Azure Naming Studio
Azure Naming Studio is an enterprise-focused web application designed to help Azure architects, platform engineers and system engineers generate consistent names for Azure Management Groups, Subscriptions, Resource Groups and Azure resources.
The application applies predefined naming schemas, approved resource abbreviations, regional codes, environment codes and resource-specific naming constraints. Its purpose is to improve consistency across Azure environments, simplify governance and reduce errors during solution design and deployment.
Supported naming scopes
- Management Group and Subscription hierarchy generation
- Platform and Landing Zone Resource Group naming
- Standard, dependent and compact Azure resource naming
- Optional instance-aware naming for supported resources
- Specialized Subnet naming with address-space information
- Resource-specific format validation and point-in-time availability checks where supported
Naming standards
The naming patterns used by the application are based on enterprise Azure architecture practices and are informed by Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework guidance. Organization-specific naming requirements may differ, and generated names should always be reviewed against internal governance, security and operational standards.
Validation
Azure Naming Studio validates the structure and format of generated names based on the configured naming rules. Format validation may include required components, supported characters, length limits and resource-specific constraints.
A format-valid result does not automatically guarantee that a globally unique Azure resource name is available. Where supported, availability checks are performed separately through the corresponding Azure Resource Provider API. Availability is point-in-time and does not reserve the name.

Privacy
Generated-name history is stored locally in the user's browser. Azure Naming Studio does not currently require user authentication and does not intentionally store generated names in a central application database.
Users should not enter passwords, secrets, access keys, personal data or confidential information into naming fields.
Domain registration
The aznamingstudio.eu domain is registered and administered by Dimitris Devouros.
Disclaimer
Azure Naming Studio provides naming recommendations, format validation and, where supported, point-in-time Azure name availability checks. It does not reserve resource names and does not replace an organization's architecture review, governance process, Azure Policy implementation or security controls.
